"It is with sadness that we announce that Mrs Betty Haycock passed away on 2 February 2009.
She ran the Peveril Stud founded in 1953 and bred many wonderful Foresters with the Peveril prefix, including the Elite Stallions Peveril Peter Piper and Pveril Peterborough."
Peveril Stud bloodlines are prominent in the breeding of a high proportion of New Forest ponies in Australia.
Peveril ponies were imported to Australia and many in the New Forest community here will be saddened to hear of the passing of Betty Haycock.
Peveril Prophet imported to Australia by the partnership of Alison Charlton and Janet McBain has been a big influence on the breed in Australia as was his dam, Peveril Paree, who was the Champion Native Pony at the Ponie of Britain show at Olympia, prior to her arrival in Australia.
She was in foal on arrival and this foal was Forestway Sprig'O'Holly, who has only recently died at the age of 34 years.
The Peveril Stud features in the UK publication "A Celebration of New Forest Ponies".
